7 Movies On Disney+ Your Toddler Will Love (And So Will You)

Disney was a huge part of my childhood. I was always watching a Disney movie (okay, more like The Little Mermaid 95% of the time). And, now that my daughter is old enough to watch a movie, I get to enjoy the magic that is Disney all over again!

But be warned….if your toddler is anything like mine, you’re going to end up watching Moana and Frozen so many times, you’ll be able to recite every single word of the movie from start to finish.

Nevertheless, these 7 movies on Disney+ are guaranteed winners with you and your toddler. Once you see the enjoyment in their eyes, you’ll gladly watch it 127 more times!

1. Monster’s Inc.

Sully and Boo from Disney's Monster's Inc. say goodbye to each other

Monster’s Inc. tells the story of best friends Mike and Sully on the cusp of breaking the all-time scare record. However, a breach into their world by a human child (believed to be extremely toxic to monsters) changes all of that. During the ensuing chaos, Sully and Boo (child) begin to bond and form a touching relationship.

Your toddler will absolutely love the bright colors in the animation and mimicking Boo, while you get to enjoy the heartfelt message of friendship.

2. The Peanuts Movie

Snoopy and Charlie Brown from Fox's The Peanuts Movie hug each other.

Released in 2015, The Peanuts Movie takes the classic characters created by Charles M. Schulz and revamps them into a modern CG animated film. We’re taken on a journey with Charlie Brown as he tries to impress his love interest, The Little Red-Haired Girl.

Your toddler will love the music, the multiple airplane scenes, and of course Snoopy. (My daughter listens to “Better When I’m Dancing” by Meghan Trainor at least twice a day). And if you grew up reading Peanuts comics in the Sunday newspaper or watching The Great Pumpkin like I did, you’ll love the nostalgia this movie invokes.

3. Toy Story

Buzz Lightyear and Woody fly through the sky in Disney's Toy Story

Not only was Toy Story a HUGE favorite of mine as a child, my daughter seems to have taken a real interest in these characters too. She currently has a collection of Woody, Buzz, Rex, Mr. Potato Head, and Jesse figurines she loves to play with each and everyday.

There’s not much to say about this movie other than it’s a classic and every kid (regardless of age) needs to see it. Plus, it’s aged pretty well considering the first film in the franchise was released over 25 years ago!!

4. Zootopia

All the characters together in one image from Disney's Zootopia

Is your child an animal lover? Then Zootopia is the perfect movie for your little one. It tells the story of Judy Hopps, a country bunny with big aspirations to move to the bustling city of Zootopia to become the first-ever rabbit cop.

Your toddler will love seeing nearly every animal species there is and the soundtrack. However, it’s a great film for older children too as it teaches them that they can become anything they want as long as they believe in themselves and work hard.

5. Finding Nemo

Dory from the Disney movie Finding Nemo tells Marlon to "just keep swimming."

Before you say anything, I already know what you’re thinking…”How can a movie about a parent losing his son be enjoyable to watch with my child?”

Well, just keep watching…or swimming as Dory says. Despite the premise, Finding Nemo is one of the BEST movies to watch with your kid. It teaches you how to become a more trusting parent, and shows your child just how much parents are willing to go to keep them safe. At the heart of the film, it reiterates the unbreakable bond of parent and child.

6. Frozen

Elsa from the Disney movie Frozen sings "Let It Go"

I think I speak for all parents when I say knowing every single word of “Let It Go” is a rite of passage into parenthood. No, seriously, it’s inevitable.

Your toddler will love every single minute of this film, and frankly, you will too. It’s a loving story about sisters Anna and Elsa— there’s magic, a talking snowman, and a great soundtrack.

7. Moana

Maui from the Disney movie Moana sings "You're Welcome"

Moana is a fantastic Disney film for toddlers and kids of any age. She’s brave, has perseverance, is courageous, and is independent. She’s a good role model that will teach your kids to stand up for what’s right, never give up, and to never stop being curious.

With one of the best Disney soundtracks, Moana’s one you and your toddler won’t soon tire of.

I know there’s endless great movies on Disney+ to watch aside from these 7. Tell me which film is your child’s favorite in the comments below!
